Coming soon:

It’s almost here

January 26, 2018….This date will be the first day of our homeschooling adventure.  Our little family is excited for the adventures 2018 will bring. Many new and exciting learning opportunities are ahead and we would like to share them with our friends and family.  As some of you may know, the “left, right, straight game” is one of my favorites. If you are unfamiliar with it, let me explain how we play. As the driver, I start out in a general direction and at some point in the journey, I announce that the game has begun. At the next intersection, the passenger or passengers choose to go left, right or straight. Each intersection provides a new choice. Simple things along the journey delight. Some things are beautiful (the waterfalls and streams), some strange (the Peace Pagoda) and some a little creepy (the Children of God compound) but all of them lead to some fun conversation. That is my hope for 2018; I want beauty, novelty and “joy in the journey”. Looking forward to sharing what we are seeing, learning and experiencing. I am thankful for my heavenly Father who loves me and is giving me this opportunity. May all I say and do be acceptable in His sight. Joy does come in the morning (after 9:00 am) hehe!

Contentment

Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Today I feel compelled to write about being contented. I know that the verse above does not seem to address this subject but hear me out. Consider you present situation and the vision of what God is calling you to in the future

Webster’s dictionary defines the adjective contented as “feeling or showing satisfaction with one’s possessions, status, or situation.” Paul, in Phillipians 4, tells us that he has “learned to be content in all circumstances.” However, he is the same man who talks about “pressing on toward the goal” in chapter 3 of this same letter. Hmmm

As I embark on this new season, I am looking forward to all that I will be learning and experiencing. However, I am struck with the fact that this is God’s journey for me. God has given me this opportunity and vision for 2018. I am feeding into my family this year. Mothering and shepherding are my main goals. I need to be contented woman and embrace this season.

What is your season? What vision has God given you for 2018? Do you have a “word” for 2018? Last year my word was “Reestablish”. This year my word is undetermined right now.  I am perceiving a new thing and asking God to show me his direction.

God has a personal path for each of us. To often we are focused on someone else’s path and miss the beauty in our own. When I was a younger mom, I had a friend who seemed to have the perfect life. While I was working, she was out playing golf, tennis and shopping. Her house was messy and her husband never seemed to grumble and complain about the mess. Yes, I was envious of her seemingly carefree lifestyle.  Sadly, things fell apart in later years. But, even if she lived happily ever after, her path was NOT my path and NOT what God had for me.

Be a contented follower of Christ, but, do not be a complacent follower of Christ. Stay near so you can perceive the things he has planned for you. Take a little time to get a clearer picture of God’s path and goals for you this year. Write it down. Maybe choose just one word to focus on. Then, when the way is foggy and you feel a little disoriented, you can focus, see the light in your path and remind yourself where God is leading you. My prayer is that you find contentment in the present knowing that each section of the path has its own beauty.
